VOCAL PLUMBER FOR SINGERS AND ACTORS Have you ever wondered why you are not becoming a better singer, even when you are paying someone to "teach" you singing? Do you wonder why it is not as easy and as natural as talking? Have you wanted to find your own unique identity as a performer, and can't find anyone to help you? Do you really think you have more than one voice, such as a "head voice" or "chest voice?" Has someone ever told you to "lift your eyebrows for high notes?" There are many myths in the vocal world, and these are just a few of them. It's time to come back to reality and really understand that singing is as natural as speaking, in fact even more so. Every child sings, keeps tempos and rhythms before they talk. "Before they talk." Singing is a natural function of the human voice and does not require complex and ineffective exercises. You have one voice and you can use it now and forever if you understand how it all happens. Simple, easy, direct and proven results can happen for you as they have happened for so many others. Learn, understand and use your voice the same way the greatest legacies of our time have done. Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Steve Perry, Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, Tony Bennett, Tina Turner and many more have all learned how to do this. Notice the women, now in their 60s can still sing and perform and sound wonderful. They never strayed from their natural voice and it will continue to serve them as long as they choose to perform. More importantly, and rarely talked about, your unique artistic vision will make you stand out in a crowd. You can learn how to access your artistic intuition and use it so you become interesting and moving. Singing is an emotional art form, not a technical one. You learn to use your voice solely as a platform to express, with the lyrics of the song, specific emotions as you unfold the story for the audience. Look at the greats, all of them unique, all of them sound like themselves, not a technique. You don't want to be Tony or Tina, you want to be you, an original. I can coach you on your voice, how it works, how to make it strong, stable and supple. More importantly, I will work with you to create inspiring moments that galvanize the audience because of what you are singing about and how you approach it. You need both, to be a success. Unique voice, unique identity. I will never ask you to do anything I have not done. I am a Grammy nominated singer, not a piano player who picks up exercises and says "I'm going to be a vocal coach." I can teach you how to use your voice, how to be you, musicianship, recording studio essentials, songwriting, stage do's and don'ts, how to create a dynamic show and everything else you will encounter in your career. I know what it's like to be scared and how to learn to use it to your advantage. You have something special, let's find out what it is and make some of those dreams come true. Studios in Los Angeles and Palm Springs
Biography:
Grant began his career singing as a small child (I told you it is natural) and has been in the business all of his life. He has done musicals, rock and roll, pop, adult contemporary and much more. He is a Grammy nominated singer and songwriter, with a proven track record. Grant was trained by Judy Davis, legendary coach to all the greatest stars for 50 years. Unlike other coaches, I will NOT list my clients as some incentive for you to pay me. My clients include the biggest and longest career stars as well as young children, teenagers, singer songwriters American Idol contestants, and everything in between. Singing is for everyone, whatever your wish may be. What you need to do is to pay attention to what is happening with your current coach, if you have one. Are you rapidly improving in all the areas above, or have you been at this a couple years without a great deal of change? Think about it. Write to me, talk to me, and trust your instincts. You will definitely be happy with the results, I guarantee it. Each client is treated with dignity and respect for their artistry, their fears, and their musical integrity. You will learn to choose music that moves you and thus moves the audience.

Services:
Whether you are a complete beginner who wants to learn the basics of how to
sing correctly or an experienced singer who wants a Nashville vocal coach
who can get you to the next level, Susan Anders can design a vocal lesson
path that will work for your individual needs as a singer. Susan has coached
thousands of professional and budding singers in all contemporary vocal
styles: rock, country, jazz, musical theater, R&B, and folk. Her technique
is an effective, comprehensive method designed for the non-classical singer,
tailored to work with your style of music. That means, for example, that if
you sing gritty blues rock you will not come out of voice lessons sounding
like a Broadway singer--or vice versa! In private sixty minute sessions
you'll learn: All the essentials: breathing, support, placement,
relaxation, projection, how to increase your vocal range, volume, resonance,
diction, how to warm up, and care and strengthening of your voice. All
the polish: interpretation, phrasing, belting, improvising, tone, runs,
performance skills, mic technique. All the extras: how to harmonize,
studio/performance preparation, how to find or create a band, music theory
and sight singing, building a repertoire, songwriting, and goal defining.
Private singing lessons are $50/hour, beginners to pros welcome. Bands or
friends wishing to study together are also welcome and may split the cost.
Lessons are in West Nashville, Tennessee. Susan also does Singing
Evaluations by Mail for long distance clients. Check out her web site for
more information and to read her articles about singing. Susan
Anders (MA, San Francisco State) has coached singers for over twenty years
in the SF Bay Area, Los Angeles, and Nashville. Her articles on singing have
appeared in Acoustic Guitar, Acoustic Musician, Backstage West and the Angel
City Voice, and her instructional books and CDs have been used worldwide.
Performers Susan has coached include Josh Gracin, Rose MacGowan, Joey
Heatherton, Cedrik the Entertainer, Constance Marie, and L7. Susan's
instructional CDs and books "The No Scales, Just Songs Vocal Workout"
Volumes One and Two and "Harmony Singing
By Ear" have been used by singers worldwide. She is also an experienced lead
and back-up singer, arranger, and songwriter. Her former band Susan's Room
has released five albums. Susan's lullaby CD "You Can Close Your Eyes" came
out in 2004, and she followed it with a solo CD , "Release".
